Cataract patients can rest assured that cataract surgery is virtually painless and recovery is rapid. If you have questions or want more information, please ask our staff for assistance.

Billing Procedures

Feidler Eye Clinic is a participating Medicare provider, along with other numerous insurance companies. Our office submits your claim directly to Medicare and all other insurance companies.

If you are a member of a specific vision plan, such as VSP (Vision Service Plan), please have your insurance card(s) ready to show the receptionist upon your arrival.

Patients are responsible for their deductible and any non-covered services. Please be prepared to pay for your examination on the day of your visit. If several visits are necessary, arrangements can be made to bill you. Payment is due when the statement is received. Any billing questions may be directed to our bookkeeper.

Frequently asked questions

Why do you suggest getting the eyes tested between 6-12 months of age?

Clinical experience and research have shown that at 6 months, the average child has reached a number of critical milestones, making this an appropriate age for the first eye and vision assessment. Many visual abilities are fully functioning by the age of 6 months. Interference with eye and visual development during this very critical phase may lead to serious lifelong effects on vision. Successful treatment may be obtained more quickly with early intervention.

Can you test the infant's eyes? And how do you do that?

Yes, we are able to provide eye and vision assessments for any non-verbal patients, including infants. Typically, an infant would sit on their parent's lap during the assessment. Lights, toys, and other hand-held objects are used to check that their eyes are working together and that there is no eye turn or crossed eye. We also check to make sure there are no significant refractive issues that will impede proper vision development by neutralizing their retinal reflex and also check to see if there is any pathology.

Do the babies get eye drops in their eyes?

Yes, the infant receives one eye drop in each eye.

What does dilating the pupil do?

Dilating the pupils serves two important functions:

• It makes the pupils big, thus getting a better view of all the structures in the eye and the edges of the retina.

• It relaxes the infant's focusing ability in order to obtain their true prescription.

Are the exams given on certain days or certain times?

The infantSEE exams at Feidler Eye Clinic are given five days a week. The parents or guardians of the infant can choose the time that works best for them and that is agreeable with their baby's schedule, trying to avoid their nap time.
